Garam masala is a blend of ground spices mostly used in Indian cuisine. Garam masala is mostly used to give a distinct aroma and flavour to indian dishes, mostly curries.
Since India is a vast country there is a lot of diversity in climate, foods available and cooking methods. There is no single recipe of garam masala and it varies as you move to different regions in India. Below we have a simple garam masala recipe for you. Start with roasting ingredients and grind them to get a powder form of garam masala.

Ingredients
- 4 tbsp. cumin seeds
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 4 tbsp. cardamom seeds
- 4 tbsp. black peppercorns
- 6 tbsp. coriander seeds
- 2 tsp. cloves
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
Instructions
Use clean and dried ingredients.
Roast on a medium high flame for 5-10 minutes. Spices should change color and all the moisture should be evaporated.
Grind all the spices together to get a powder.
You can further strain to get smoother texture if you wish to.
